Woitas remained composed throughout the weekend, piecing together three outstanding rounds while holding off one of the deepest fields the Sicamous Invitational has ever assembled. Former champion David Dach stayed within striking distance throughout the championship, while perennial contender Alex Woitas once again mounted a serious challenge.
Alex, currently ranked fifth in the Prairie Golf Leagues standings, delivered another impressive performance but was once again denied the Sicamous Invitational title, finishing runner-up for the second consecutive year and adding another chapter to his well-known streak of near misses.
But this weekend belonged to Jon.
As the championship reached its conclusion, hundreds of eyes turned toward the picturesque 18th hole at The Rise. Following the trophy presentation, inaugural Sicamous Invitational champion David Dach was among the first to congratulate the newest winner.
“It’s something special, you know,” Dach said. “He’s worked so hard over the last couple of months, just welcomed his first child this year, and he’s still competing at such a high level. I hope he and his family can really enjoy this one.”
Although reigning Sicamous Invitational champion Zachary Janes was unable to defend his title this year, he was quick to praise Woitas’ remarkable run.
“He’s must-watch TV,” Janes said. “Every event he plays, he’s in the top three coming down the stretch. He’s become a dominating force, and the rest of us have to catch up. It’s like watching Tiger in 2000. He’s just been on another level this season.”
