Jon Woitas Chasing Another Major
Few players have enjoyed a season quite like Jon Woitas.
Already crowned the 2026 International Open Champion after his victory in South Carolina, Jon now finds himself one match away from adding another Major Championship to an already remarkable campaign.
His path to the championship has been nothing short of dominant.
The opening round featured one of the most anticipated matches in PGL history as Jon squared off against tournament favourite Justin Marler at The Quarry. It was everything fans hoped for—a four-hour heavyweight battle between two of the league’s biggest stars. Every hole carried championship intensity before Jon finally prevailed 2&1 in a contest many are already calling an instant classic.
If that wasn’t enough, Jon followed it with another statement performance at Jagare Ridge, defeating Marc Hermanns 4&3 on one of the province’s toughest championship layouts.
Standing between Jon and the finals was former Major Champion Jan Bettac, whose Cinderella run had captivated the league after eliminating two former Major champions of his own.

Jon produced perhaps his finest performance of the season, dismantling Bettac 6&5 in one of the most commanding semifinal victories in tournament history. Bettac’s dream run came to an end, but not before reminding the league he’s back in championship form with a strong start to the 2026 Harvest Cup.

Alex Woitas’ Quest for His First Major
Consistency has never been Alex Woitas’ problem.
Winning the biggest one has.
Year after year, Alex has established himself as one of the Prairie Golf League’s elite competitors, earning the reputation as the player who is always in contention. Incredibly, he has finished runner-up in every PGL event, leaving him still searching for that elusive maiden championship victory.
His road to the finals has been anything but easy.
In Round One at Trestle Creek, Alex faced PGL rookie Shane Janes in a tightly contested battle between youth and experience. The momentum swung back and forth all afternoon before Alex closed the match with a 2&1 victory on the 17th hole.
The quarterfinals brought another dangerous newcomer in Justin Lopushinsky at Country Side. Once again, Alex’s steady play proved to be the difference as he earned another hard-fought 2&1 victory to move into the semifinals.
Then came a match that may be remembered for years.
Facing Dustin Andrychuk, Alex appeared all but finished. Dustin built an early lead and looked poised to punch his ticket to the championship match. But after making the turn, something changed.
Alex caught fire.
One clutch iron shot after another slowly erased the deficit until, in a finish worthy of Hollywood, Alex completed one of the greatest comebacks in PGL history with a dramatic 1 Up victory on the 18th green.
